Qualifications for Admission
To be considered for admission, applicants must:
- Hold a valid CT teaching certificate
- Be employed by a CT PreK-12 school or school district during the program of study
Applicants will be asked to verify their certification and employment status during the application process.
How to Apply
Complete the online application below. In addition, you must upload the following documents electronically (PDF preferred):
- A copy of your CT teaching certification
- Current résumé (listing all teaching experiences)
- A letter of reference from your current principal/administrator specifically supporting your participation in the ARCTEL program*
*The purpose of this letter is to ensure that applicants possess the necessary competencies to succeed in the program and are able to complete practicum/field experience requirements within their school/district setting. Applicants are encouraged to share program requirements with their principal/administrator, including attending synchronous sessions on time, and working directly with English/multilingual learners in their classroom. If you are working or will be working under a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP), the letter should attest to that.
Application Fee
A non-refundable application fee of $75.00 is required to process your application. You will be asked to provide payment via credit card upon submitting your application.
Interview
Based on the application review, some applicants may be asked to participate in a brief interview with program staff before the final admissions decision is made. This interview serves the following purposes:
- To ensure that applicant dispositions align with those of the program
- To ensure that applicants fully understand program requirements and expectations
- To identify additional supports needed for applicant to succeed in the program
