The Yellow Team
The Yellow Team is comprised of approximately thirty students, ten in each homeroom, in grades 9-12, three certified Special Education Teachers, three Teacher Assistant Drivers, two Behavioral Technicians, and one School Psychologist. Students attend the following academic classes within the team: English, Employment Skills, Mathematics, Science/Health, and History/Civics. All students are also enrolled in a Vocational and Elective class, of their choice and Physical Education. Students in 11th and 12th grade, who are on track to graduate, have opportunities to participate in the Work Program and Gateway’s High School Partnership Program. Students have many unique experiences that help prepare them to be independent and contributing members of society.
Green Team
The Green Team welcomes 30 students to Whitney High North each day. Each classroom has approximately 10 students supported by a Special Education Teacher and a Teacher’s Assistant. Students attend the following academic classes within the team: English, Employment Skills, Mathematics, Science/Health, and History/Civics and are also enrolled in a Vocational Program. Students are emotionally supported by two Behavioral Technicians who bring provide counseling and maintain safety with positive behavioral plans. The School Guidance Counselor works with sending districts to review student credit. The school counselor maintains an unofficial transcript to track earned student credits while at Whitney High North
The Blue Team
The Blue Team at Whitney High North consists of the approximately 30 students, with a low ratio of 10-12 in each homeroom, ranging in ages from 15 to 21. The team consists of three certified Special Education Teachers, three Teacher Assistant Drivers, two Behavioral Technicians, and one School Social Worker. Students attend the following academic classes within the team: English, Employment Skills, Mathematics, Science/Health, and History/Civics. All students are also enrolled in a Vocational and Elective class, of their choice and Physical Education. Students on the Blue Team have the opportunity to take advantage of the Work program that has been established and greatly expanded over the past few years. Students have who have consistently earned academic credits and are on track for graduation are able to go out to work sites during the day and earn paychecks while still in school. Our students must meet the work criteria, which is strictly monitored by teachers and behavioral staff. Students maintain a C grade average in all classes and are responsible for any worked missed while working. Students have many unique experiences in several various worksites that help prepare them to be independent and contributing members of society.
