ACES Celebrates Reopening of the Little Theatre on Lincoln Street
06/17/2014
by Staff ◊June 17, 2014 Edition
ACES will be celebrating the reopening of the Little Theatre on Lincoln Street with a ribbon cutting ceremony June 6 at 11 a.m.
Built in 1924, New Haven’s Little Theatre (formerly known as Little Theatre on Lincoln) has seen several incarnations, including a period as a beloved art-film cinematheque. After months of construction, the latest transformation will be unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held June 6. Designed by local architecture firm Svigals + Partners, the renovation for Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) preserves the structure’s unique historic qualities while delivering dual functions: a cutting-edge theater venue and performing arts teaching facility.

Reflecting diversity: Choice schools in city more aligned to demographics
04/11/2014
Published: April 11, 2014 | Last Modified: April 11, 2014 01:41PM
By Molly Callahan Record-Journal staffMERIDEN — In a report released this week, a New Haven nonprofit group finds that enrollment at magnet, technical, and charter schools across the state doesn’t reflect the population diversity of the cities and towns where they’re located. Locally, however, Edison Middle School, an inter-district Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) magnet school, and H.C. Wilcox Technical High School, are more closely aligned to city demographics than other choice schools throughout the state.
