ACES Launches Transitional High School Program
June 16th, 2015
ACES, the Area Cooperative Educational Services, has launched ACES CREATE, an innovative transition program for 18 – 21-year olds. ACES CREATE, Continued Relevant Education and Transition Experiences, is a transition program that affords 18 – 21-year old students the opportunity to prepare for life after high school while accruing high school credits if necessary. The launch ceremony took place on June 4 at the ACES SDA Building, 205 Skiff St., Hamden, with parents, grandparents, siblings, students, and staff participating in the ceremony.
"ACES CREATE is a great example of ACES mission. It’s the result of thoughtful planning, mindful implementation, and great care. Its award-winning staff has over 25-years of experience and is dedicated to their students’ successes. I commend Gina Drury, Merri Stanley-Puglisi and the ACES CREATE team for creating new opportunities for student success,” said Dr. Thomas M. Danehy, ACES Executive Director. "This unique program features a full array of services including academic achievement, career exploration, vocational and community experiences, and social activities. With ACES CREATE, students have opportunities to work in the community while strengthening their academic skills. Its many enrichment activities include marching band, JV and Varsity basketball, music and visual art,” explained Gina Drury, Principal, ACES Whitney High School East / West and ACES CREATE.
