ACES Students Have "The Write Stuff"
August 12th, 2013
For the 14th year in a row, Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES), the educational service center that serves south central Connecticut, brought “The Write Stuff” to children from 1st – 4th grade students, and showed that “Math Does Count” for 5th– 8th grade students in schools participating in ACES Open Choice program.
Two hundred campers enrolled in the ACES Math Does Count and The Write Stuff Summer Camp programs. Campers hailed from Ansonia, Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, East Haven, Hamden, Meriden, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Wallingford, West Haven and Woodbridge.
Funded by the Connecticut State Department of Education and Interdistrict grants, these programs were provided at no cost to participating families.
The Write Stuff and Math Does Count ran from July 22 to August 2 and were held at the ACES Thomas Edison Interdistrict Magnet School in Meriden.
At the Connecticut Science Center, ACES students show the literal and figurative closeness from a variety of school districts. Goals of the program are to increase academic achievement and to reduce racial isolation. Submitted photo.
