Rocky Hill Resident Andrew Sorrentino Receives 2013 Superintendent's Award
April 5th, 2013
Dr. Craig W. Edmondson, executive director, ACES with SCASA awardee Andrew Sorrentino
Andrew is an engaging and active member in both his classroom and the school community in general. He is a member of the School Spirit committee, Boy Scouts, and the Village School Chorus. He also participates in the Best Buddies Program, and assists with the School Store and a “Birthday Bakery”. Andrew brings sunshine into the classroom every morning upon arrival with a cheery “good morning, how are you today?”. He is a charming, positive, and empathetic student who has a great sense of humor. He willingly offers assistance to both staff and peers, whenever he sees that help is needed. If it appears that someone is unhappy, or unwell, Andrew dispenses words of comfort and advice. When his bus is called in the afternoon, he takes the hand of his little bus mate, turns to his teacher and says “I’ll take it from here”. Andrew has shown a great deal of progress in achieving his personal goals and he takes pride in his accomplishments. On the most challenging of days, we can always count on Andrew to lighten the mood and put a smile on our faces. He is truly an asset to his classroom, and his school. Outside of school, Andrew loves spending time with his family. He also enjoys participating in soccer and Challenger Baseball. When Andrew was informed that he was selected to receive a special award, his response was “I got an A+ today!”. In our estimation, he gets an “A+” every day!
