The recipients of this year’s awards were Kaitlin Makepeace, a senior at Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, Conn., and Daniel Knepple a senior at Oxford High School in Oxford, Conn., and Laly Corchado, a sixth grader and Hamden resident at the Village School in North Haven. Laly has been described as a teacher’s “dream” student, and at her young age she is an active member of the Girl Scouts, a participant in the Best Buddies program and works to keep our Earth “green” by participating in her school’s recycling program. “Each of these students has displayed outstanding leadership skills, a natural progression of development throughout the years, exemplary scholastic ability, and dedicated community involvement”, according to Dr. Craig Edmondson Executive Director at ACES.
