"Rocky" Helps ACES Village School Celebrate Baseball Day
August 5th, 2013
Rocky, the mascot for the New Britain Rock Cats visits with students from North Haven's ACES Village School. Submitted photo used with permission.
“The New Britain Rock Cats were happy to participate in this event. ACES students, families and staff are second to none with their creative and fun approach to learning. The Rock Cats could not be more proud to have partnered with the ACES Village School on Baseball Day,” stated Rock Cats Vice President, Mike Abramson.
In addition to visiting with Rocky, students participated in interactive events including Wii baseball, batting practice, and a QR hunt around the building.
During the month students learned baseball-related vocabulary, how to keep score through addition, the history of baseball, weights of various balls and equipment, positions on the field and many other interesting facts.
“Pre-school through 8th grade students participated in the baseball unit. The unit provided a multi-sensory approach to learning and was a fun way to engage our students,” shared Carol Bunk, principal of ACES Village School.
