Biography

Saul Fussiner, Department Chair in Creative Writing, holds a MFA in dramatic writing from NYU. He previously taught History and Facing History & Ourselves at New Haven Academy, and Film Studies at Hunter College.  He was twice an educator on the “March of the Living,” teaching American students about the Holocaust in Poland, and was a 2017 “Fund for Teachers” Fellow studying the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland. His produced screenplays include Follow Me Outside and Buddha’s Little Finger. Collaborating with Donal O’Hagan, he is the co-author of the plays Fathers Without Sons and A Whiff of Cordite. His personal essays have appeared in the New Haven Review and Iconoclast.  He is the host of "Songs & Stories," the monthly storyteller and singer/songwriter series at Next Door on Humphrey Street in New Haven, and has performed as a storyteller at multiple venues. He was a four year student in the Theatre department at ECA, and one of the four original students when the Creative Writing department was piloted. He was an adjunct instructor in the Creative Writing department from 2000 through 2006.
